I’ve been working professionally in the hospitality industry for 17, including 7 years as the Global Smirnoff brand ambassador, so plenty of highlights from the 80 different countries I was lucky to visit and train in! Activating the Smirnoff Experiences was mind blowing from working with Faithless in Moscow, Madonna in New York to Tiesto in S.Africa to name drop a few. What I’m most proud of, is setting up my own consultancy in 2007, Nomu Consult, which is a bespoke consultancy advising and activating globally within the luxury alcohol on-trade. My claim to fame, is that I hold 2 official Guinness World Records for facilitating the “World’s Largest cocktail lesson” (1,774 people) & “The largest number of people simultaneously shaking a cocktail” (1,710)
There have been alot of food based studies over the past few years that have shown the impact of various senses on our perception of taste. eg. Desserts served on a white plate are perceived as 10% sweeter than served on a black plate. Recently Ive started seeing this Global trend drip into the drink world through sensory cocktail offerings (eg. choosing by smell, artist recreations, sounds changing flavour, cognitive biases) which are really offering consumers interactivity/engagement in their drink. My design, picks up from this trend and allows the drinker an experimentation of texture to tailor taste.
